Be Prepared!
Hi everyone...yes we have two reasonably big pieces of work due in on Thursday. The Great Design Challenge for SS, we can spend Wednesday's lesson too if you would like? Make sure you have as many notes and drawings and notes as possible. I am not really looking for the neatest work but I want you to make sure you have got down all the ideas about how it will work.
The next project is the Acellamy Awards for Science. You must make an Edible Cell (a cell that can be eaten). There will be a refrigerator available for storage during the day.
The Guidelines are:
The next project is the Acellamy Awards for Science. You must make an Edible Cell (a cell that can be eaten). There will be a refrigerator available for storage during the day.
The Guidelines are:
Is the cell identified? Plant or animal.
Is it a 3-D model?
All organelles are included.
Are the organelles correctly labeled and function written down?
Are the relationships between organelles shown correctly?
Are the materials acceptable?
If you need help please talk to me on Wednesday at school.
Good luck!

Speeches: IMPORTANT
Yan, Charlotte, Betty, Eunike, and Ruixin, as you signed up for Tuesday or you were away on Friday (Ruixin), the National Test is on Tuesday so you must be ready to go on Monday. Benedek will start, but you must be prepared to follow his brave lead! Sorry, but you have had at least 3 weeks to prepare!
Remember you are allowed visual aids but if it is on the computer it must not be your entire speech, it must support your speech, a picture, a pair of football boots, a dinosaur bone etc.
This should not be a powerpoint presentation!

Tuesday Film Festival
Hi guys, because of today's mix up, we are booked in for two films tomorrow. I have managed to get you out of the Swedish lesson but I don't think we are going to have time to come back to school in between the movies, can I ask that we all bring a packed lunch just in case. It may be that we want to come back to school anyway and miss the second film. If everybody has lunch with them we will be a bit more flexible.
I will ask if you can ask to leave a little earlier from your language lessons tomorrow, 9.15 so we can catch the bus to get us there on time (9.30).
I hope you enjoyed it today, it should have been in English! :s

The Science homework is concerned with diffusion. In the Science album is a page where I would like you to take notes and show with diagrams what happens during diffusion. Use examples eg: teabag with hot water. A cup of tea with a sugar cube. Watch this video!
MISTAKE ADMISSION!
Today I told you that the Shrunken Head experiment was diffusion, it is actually Osmosis which we can cover very quickly tomorrow.

Hi guys, I have included 2 pieces of artwork in the SS album. I would like you to discuss and compare these paintings and show what you have learnt about the differences and similarities between the two artistic styles from the Medieval times to the age of the Renaissance. Also I have added a new album called Renaissance Art, which is a powerpoint which details everything there is to know about these two time periods when it comes to Art. There's 100 pages so lots to go through but there is some excellent information!

Cyber Bullying Beats...they won't write themselves!
Hi guys...I managed to find all the beats that you need for your rap writing.
Beat 1- Simple Beat
Beat 2- Simple Beat Instrumental
Beat 3- Piano Beat
Beat 4- Einstein Beat
Beat 5- Meine Zeit
Basic structure of writing a rap song.
Get a topic...easy...Cyber Bullying!
Brainstorm...write as much down as you can...any way you can...don't think about what you are writing in so much as you are getting down the emotions surrounding the topic. Don't try to write verses just yet because you'll spend all your time to try to find rhyming words instead of getting down your feelings. Write as much down as you can...3-4 full pages of scribbles, ideas, drawings, lightbulb moments, brain freezes, flowing creativity etc. (Google "Eminem lyric sheets"to see what I mean.)
Chorus/ Hook
I am pretty sure that if there are 3-4 people in a group, that one or more has an idea what they want the song to be called or how they think the chorus should go. Of course, the chorus and the verses must say the same thing or at least have the same theme. You can't contradict each other. Then you can start putting all your ideas together and start writing verses.
Write Your Verses
"When it comes to writing a rap song I usually recommend writing 2-3 verses, preferably 3. A verse usually consists of 16 bars (a pair of rhyming sentences = I bar). When writing your verses make sure that you are writing them to really fit your chorus. Your basic rap song structure usually goes intro, verse, hook, verse, hook, verse and hook. Of course you can alter this structure to your liking. Just make sure it sounds good and not too out of the ordinary."
More info here.

Speeches- New Album
- Informative – This speech serves to provide interesting and useful information to your audience. Some examples of informative speeches:
- A teacher telling students about earthquakes
- A student talking about her research
- A travelogue about the Tower of London
- A computer programmer speaking about new software
- Demonstrative Speeches – This has many similarities with an informative speech. A demonstrative speech also teaches you something. The main difference lies in including a demonstration of how to do the thing you’re teaching. Some examples of demonstrative speeches:
- How to start your own blog
- How to bake a cake
- How to write a speech
- How to… just about anything
- Persuasive – A persuasive speech works to convince people to change in some way: they think, the way they do something, or to start doing something that they are not currently doing. Some examples of persuasive speeches:
- Become an organ donor
- Improve your health through better eating
- Television violence is negatively influencing our children
- Become a volunteer and change the world

Science: Global Winds
This weeks lesson about Global Winds was taken by our looong Social Studies lesson.
So you need to teach yourselves about Global Winds. I suggest you read the Science Text book pages referring to Global Winds. It will be confusing to start with. Take notes. Note key sentences and ideas. Make a note of words you don't understand to refer to later.
Then watch this excellent video explaining how wind currents are formed and how they get their (sometimes strange) names. If that is not enough and it should be, you can do some more research. Then go back and read your Global Wind notes again and draw a diagram based upon what you learnt from the video and also using the diagrams I have included in the Science album.
Remember everyone...always strive to produce the best work you can.

Science
You ALL need notes relating to the Nitrogen, Carbon and Water cycle explaining what occurs. I read all of your books and realised that some of your books were terribly disorganised with drawings all over the place and very few notes supporting your diagrams. I have included the Water Cycle in the science album.
Homework is to answer these questions and write a story.
1. What are three ways water gets into the air?
2. What role do decomposers play in the Carbon Cycle?
3. What facts support the statement " water is constantly moving"?
4. Write a short story about your water molecule from Thursday's lesson and how it travelled and its journey from where it started to where it finished.

Lucia
Hi guys...don't forget the Lucia parade starts tomorrow at 8.20. Look for Ã…sa or Annika as I have Benjamin's and Isabella's Lucia at daycare. Maybe one of you could film? Charlotte?
Anywho, after Lucia parade and songs, we'll go back to class and have the usual 9.20 break + 9.40 lesson. Then after lunch, the infamous Teachers vs Students Lucia Bandy Challenge 2012. The 6th Grade classes will play against the teachers. There will be two 10 minute games per class. The teachers will then take on the 'mighty' 9th Grade classes. As I will be involved in the games, 6en will be asked to watch, cheer and support all games.
Afterwards, we will go back to class and think of something special to do. Plan a disco. Finish our christmas cards. Finish our Art? Do not forget sports clothes for the game!
Sleep well 6en...you will need it for tomorrow!
